Nonconformity

They say “Time is precious,”
“Love will leave you breathless.”
Yet, my generation’s reckless
And I’m gasping for air – infectious.

There are one-thousand, four-hundred, forty minutes in a day.
How much do you spend doing what you preach and say?
A generation of advocates for change
Proclaiming these differences aren’t so strange,
Yet they conform to their cliques
And make judgments and assumptions too quick.

In the middle of the road stands the most
With the least on the inside, like a hollow ghost.
They play it safe and follow the crowd
While others follow dreams and truly are proud.

Time is precious and makes no exceptions
For the ones who spend it on the ground – no suspension.
Love will leave you breathless and traveling the world in one minute.
It is not experienced with a blind-fold or a mind-hold, so quit it.

There are one-thousand, four-hundred, forty minutes in a day.
If each is free to us, then why do you hesitate to be true like you’ll pay?
There is no cost to be yourself, whether you’re different or the same.
There are risks, but that’s the point in getting off the bench and into the game.
